Infos zu den Updates

The Gibbiceps has been removed due to his size (23cm). A fellow Aquariumholder was delighted with this nice creature to welcome it in his 1400l Amazone tank.

Pictures of the filtration system will be added next week.

water in lake malawi:

pH = 7, 9 -8, 7 (8, 3 is optimum)

temp: 24 - 26 °c

gH 3-4°dH

kh 5 - 7

Because of the 7 species, the aggression is devided. So the aggression-level is rather low. There is a kind of harmony amongst them. If I would cut it down to 5 species, that harmony would probably be disturbed.

The frozen food is only ment to be given as snacks maximum once a week.

The PH in Lake Malawi is about 7, 8 - 8, so guess that my level is quite reasonable.

Hello Wouter,

you did a really nice job building you "stone heap". In my opinion it is a good compromise between functionality and optical appearance. It offers your mbunas quite a lot of territories and hiding places without taking too much of your open-water area. But your filters are insufficient for this amount of water and fish. The volume per hour should be at least 2000l, better more. And your food is too much based on protein. The major part of your feeding should contain green components: Cucumber, paprica, spinach, spirulina! And your pH could be risen a little bit up to 8, 2

Bye,

Tilo

Hi Wouter,

the stonewall looks pretty massive and is probably taking up a bit' too much space, espcl. when the depth of the tank is only 50cm. Taking into account that the Nimbochromis will be removed sooner or later, you have 7 Mbuna species. Among them 3 Maylandia who tend to be fairly aggressive and not the smallest of size. If it works out in your tank it's fine, but i would probably cut it down to 5.

Anyway, welcome to the Forum!

cheers
